Times Flying!

imageTime, and our season of Fall is flying by! I know I have brought up this subject before! I’m not sure what’s going on, but it’s Halloween this weekend!

Then we will be sharing how thankful we are for our blessings, sitting around a table with our closest friends and family for Thanksgiving.

Thanks to the graphics for our graphics.

So is it too early to think of Christmas?Well, I don’t think so!

Here are some photos from last year to get us in the mood.

Next Thursday we will be creating some Christmas magic in the shop. Can’t wait.

Next Friday we will stay open till 5:00p.m. (This will be new hours for our first Friday of the month.11:00a.m.-5:00p.m.)

We will continue to be open on  first Saturday of the month10:00a.m.- 3:00p.m.

I love decorating with Christmas vintage items.

I think I love it so much because it warms my heart thinking about all the wonderful Christmases I had as a child and the ones I cherish when my boys were young. Now I have two wonderful grandchildren to start over the traditions. More blessings to come.

A couple of my favorite things I like to use to decorate with our old sleds, skates, snow shovels and vintage ornaments. Tie some fresh greens on a sled or skates stand them on your porch or by the front door. Sling your skates over your sled. Do you have a chair on the porch? Lay your skates on your chair, tie a bow with greens or holly. Put a snowman next to it.

We will have skates decorated for you to hang and maybe a snow shovel decorated! Come in soon! They won’t last!

Fill glass bowls, jars and vases with vintage ornaments, add fake snow and greens. Instant festive decor!

Wednesday’s Recipe:

After your turkey dinners from Thanksgiving and Christmas, slice that turkey for delich sandwiches.

Multi grain bread, mayo, turkey, field green lettuce, salt and pepper on turkey, stonewall kitchen cranberry relish, and my favorite is a little stuffing on it. Now it is also good without the stuffing too.

This a Stuffed Tom Turkey.

Come in and get your cranberry relish. Lots of good recipes with the cranberry relish.

Value the History of Vintage Items

Hi everyone! Last week came up from the Eastern Shore ! I came into the shop on Thursday.

It was kind of quiet on Thursday, so I began the creativity process of striping the displays.  It’s quite a process . Once you begin, it leads to moving more than you expect.

I love it!!!  It is my favorite part of the business. I enjoy incorporating the vintage items with our new items in our displays. When I do our displays, blending the old with the new it validates that our vintage( our history) can be used in our present time.

I brought in some new items. Come in to see our new treasures.

Grilling Season Is On!

Pools open, grills get pulled out of the shed and sales of hamburgers and hotdogs start to soar!

Check out our website for some great recipes plus stop by our store and check out the new additions to our Stonewall Kitchen line of jams and sauces. Currently we are featuring the MANGO LIME SALSA and BASIL PESTO AIOLI Sauce. I wasn’t sure I would like the Mango Lime Salsa but it is FANTASTIC! It mixes a little bit of sweet with a little spicy and is a nice change from the traditional salsas. And the Basil Pesto Aioli has endless possibilities! I have tried it on grilled chicken and steaks (so far…)and it is awesome. My kids even like it on chips and our Stonewall Kitchen Rosemary Parmesan Crackers.

If you have a particular Stonewall Kitchen product that you love, please let us know and we will add that to our line for you!

Try this with our Stonewall Kitchen Basil Pesto Aioli Sauce!

I’m Melting!(a good thing)

The snow is melting,

image image image image image imagesun is shining and birds are singing. Could winter be slowing down?  I think it is! Warmer temperatures are in the forecast this week. So what a better time to give Something Old & Something New Marketplace a Burst of Spring!

Yeah! It’s about time! My trip this week was cancelled because of bad weather. :(  Never fear., Char will be here! I will buzz in and buzz out, just enough time to sprinkle some fairy dust all through the store. All of you who have been in our store, know my glitter issues.

Worked on many Spring displays today. Come in to be inspired!

This is one of my moms and grandmothers favorite recipe. We always used pumpernickel  bread bowl. Also you can serve with veggies too. We also served with crunchy pumpernickel bread sticks( I think pepperidge farms) beau monde is a season salt in Spice Island seasonings brand. It’s a great seasoning for red meats too. I like to refrigerate for a couple of hours so you flavors blend.

Dill Dip in a Bread Bowl

Recipe courtesy Carissa Seward

1 tablespoon dill weed
1 tablespoon shallot, minced
1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley leaves
1 tablespoon beau monde (seasoning salt)
2 round bread loaves
Mix all of the ingredients together in a medium bowl. Cut out the center of 1 bread round and mound dill dip into the interior cavity of the bread bowl. Cut up other bread round into 2-inch squares and dip bread into bowl.

I changed a few things on recipe, according to our families recipe.
