Reflections

Ash Wednesday

Todays theme is reflections. This is where I try chatting about anything and everything! Oh my! That might be dangerous!First, I would like to apologize for not posting weekly. Opening our other shop has kept us very busy. I will try to make an effort to at least post once a week.

I can not believe it is, the Ash Wednesday beginning of Lent for  Christians. During lent we fast, give up something or work on bettering oneself in their faith for 40 days. I am going to work on a few personal issues myself. One item I would like to be better with is not to be negative, let go of the negativity that surrounds us.

At SOSNM, we need to start reorganizing and decorating for Spring and Easter. Easter Sunday is March 27.

Spring to me is a rebirth, a new beginning. We look forward sharing so many ideas to kick start your Spring Season. Dee and I hope when you celebrate Easter, each of you will feel refreshed to begin your Spring with new possibilities.Stop in our shops. I also want to share a few videos of some decorating tips you can try at home.

Happy Valentines to all of you! Love to all of you!

Check with Dee at SOSNM 1 about an upcoming DIY class on Feb.6. Our artist, Edy who paints our wine glasses will be teaching a class! How cool is that? Sign up soon! Details with Dee.

Chars Idea/Recipe

Stonewall Kitchen Cranberry Horseradish sauce. This is delicious on turkey, chicken, or beef. I was serving a prime rib. I usually serve it will a horseradish/mayo sauce I mix. I was out of horseradish. I used the cranberry horseradish sauce with some mayo. Wisk it, it turns into a pretty pink sauce. Delish!

What will be in store for all us in 2016? Can’t wait! Dee and I will do our very best to provide lots of great treasures for your picking! We hope along with  great shopping experiences, all of us will enjoy laughter and fun while doing it.

Pumpkin Time

I love Fall, the cool crisp air and pumpkins everywhere. The changing colors of the leaves scattered all over the ground.

We hope you come in and visit with us.

Our fire is looking cozy for Fall!
Our fire is looking cozy for Fall! We want to invite all of our customers to come out to visit SOSNM during this beautiful time of the year.

Our shop looks like a pretty fall day. We have changed our displays and added beautiful merchandise.

Great Sales , don’t miss them.

Pictures below are:

The outfit is featured in a store in Ocean View, DE, Interiors by Kim:Kim’s Korner. Stop by lots of accessories, collectables, and furnishings for all homes. Turnkey decorating is available.

The other photo shows Black Crow Candles. Super smelling and long burning candles. Stay tune for a very special addition to this line of candles.

Our last photo is my weathered pumpkin. Quick and easy DIY.

Take a plastic pumpkin, paint it whatever color you desire.

Let it dry, then take a light sandpaper and weather your pumpkin.

I liked sanding around the face and grooves of the pumpkin. Final step, antique it with a stain or diluted brown paint. Wipe off the access. Let it dry. This is a cute and easy project. Send pictures. So we can post.

Come in and check out the arrival of new pumpkin items from Stonewall Kitchen.

Pack Up Your Troubles!

Decorate with vintage luggage.

Painting the suitcases are very easy. This is a great tip if you want to make your suitcases a cottage style with softer colors.

Suitcases are great storage containers too.

We love using them in our displays.

Stop by the shop we have nice ones for sale.

Creativity Challenge

image image image image image imageStart challenge yourself each week to try being creative. This week we have a heart full of buttons. Easy!

First, you need to gather up your buttons or broken pieces of jewelry. Go to thrift or antique shops.they are very good places to find these items, if you do not have a tin full in your home.

Next, I would like you to use either a thick piece of cardboard or a wooden heart shaped cut-out. (Craft store sells them)

In using the cardboard , you need to trace or draw your heart. Then cut it out.

I prefer the wooden heart, it’s sturdy. Buy a small bottle of craft paint to paint your heart on both sides. In selecting your color of paint, use your main color theme of your buttons that you have chosen.

Paint one side of heart, let it dry, repeat for other side.

Cover your heart with bonding glue that dries clear.Craft stores carries

it. I like Wellabond. Arrange your buttons/jewelry onto your base. Cover and overlap. You will need to add more glue in doing this process.

Let this sit for a couple of days to make sure it has bonded.

You may add a ribbon to the back of heart, fasten with your glue.

A single heart of buttons shown, is created by purchasing flexible thin wire at your craft store.(in jewelry making section)

Make sure the wire will thread through your button holes.

Wire should be light color and very thin. Thread the wire through each button. Shape your buttons in a heart shape.

Loop a pretty ribbon around your heart.

Please send us your photos!

Feeling a little Crafty???

Today I’m posting another Christmas Craft. Don’t be shy, share a craft with us. We would love to post it. Thanks.

Sparkling Ornaments

We turned old night-light bulbs into festive ornaments, but any size will do. Just brush on glittering glue, roll the bulb in glitter, and let dry for 15 minutes. Then hot-glue a loop of metallic embroidery floss to the bulb’s base. (Glittering glue with brush, $3.65 for 4 oz.; dickblick.com)

found this craft in Country Living online.

Glittery Snowflake Wreath

BY

Better Homes Garden online

Get the look of a handmade wreath without all the work — prepurchased ornaments and a flat foam wreath come together to make this easy snowflake craft. Remove the string hangers from the ornaments and position on the wreath. Once you’re satisfied with the arrangement, hot-glue the snowflakes into place. Thread wide ribbon (we layered red on top of white here) through the wreath and hang.
Editor’s Tip: Fiberglass or resin ornaments look especially frosty.

Good Morning, Getting Ready For A Busy Week

Hi everyone! We are busy as bees getting ready for our Sip/Shop

Come and Relax after hours!

Enjoy an evening of relaxing, shopping, sipping

on cool libations, and nibbling on snacks.

Fun ! Fun ! Fun!

And

our First Saturday of the month being opened.

And don’t forget our DIY workshop 11-1 on Saturday.

Clarification on DIY.

We reschedule our first workshop , the mosaic flower pot from last month due to lack of participants.

We decided to make our flower pots this Saturday.

We have broken some beautiful dishes with a variety of colors and patterns.

Someone asked me if we break good dishes, they seemed concerned, but we have reassured them we break dishes that have cracks and imperfections.

And sometimes we accidentally break some dishes and we just say, save it for our Mosaic.
