Old vs. New

This weeks blogs theme is old vs. new.

image

Each has its own value, that’s why we decided to include old and new into our shop.

Vintage items are special because they have a true history.  And when we purchase a vintage item, we share the history of it with others.

It’s a sort of recycling. This gives me a great feeling that we are not just disposing of old things but we are appreciating the value of  them.

Then we have the new treasures!

Some individuals love new items.

The item is all shiny, not used, and all one needs to do is unwrap it.

What a nice fall look!

What a nice fall look!

New is great too! Both new and vintage treasures are loved for their own purpose.

And you know your new treasures will become vintage treasures one day.

At our shop, our goal is to have the old mixed with the new, not separated.

We try to show how we can decorate, entertain, and surround ourselves with what we love whether it’s new or vintage or both!

I love mixing vintage with new.

Try mixing a little vintage in your life! Share the history of the piece with friends and love ones.

Find fun in the Fall. I’m changing some of my decor for the Fall in my home. When decorating my home I now use pumpkins, gourds, fall leaves, turkeys, fall garlands, and fall foliage. I don’t do Hallowen decorations, this way I can keep out the decorations out till Thanksgiving. I’ve just started to decorate. I will be sharing more photos soon. Today I’m sharing one of my dear friends fall mantle. Isn’t it beautiful! She dry brushed her pumpkins white and added glitter!

Go out and buy cheap pumpkins from the dollar store and/or Michaels and paint with craft paint or spray paint your pumpkins! Who says pumpkins need to be orange????

The rest of photos are of my home. I’m a big believer of mixing your seasonal decor with your favorite items. I do sometimes remove a few items to switch out for seasonal items.   Todays recipe can be found on cookinglight.com. search: Pork and Apple Roulade

One Day Late

So sorry I’m one day late for our blog.

I was helping a dear friend with her Fall Open

House at her Shop, Hudsons General Store in Clarksville, DE.

Great store! Check it out if you ever in DE.

It’s time for routines, schedules, crisp air, sweaters, football, and  getting  warm and cozy. I inherited the love of  the changing of the seasons from my mother. My mom loved decorating her home from season to season. I now decorate my home from season to season just like my mom.

I have just started decorating my home for the fall. I promise I will post a few pictures.

Sharing some of our goodies from our shop that will warm up our Fall season. Our potpourri and candles will smell so great in your home this fall.

Dont forget we have great fall wraps and outfits to wear through the season. Scarves are a great accessory to add a fall look into your wardrobe. We have a great variety of scarves.

Dont forget that we have a variety of fall foliage to dress up your mantels, sideboards, and tables. It’s truly amazing with a sprig here and a sprig there, you will be bringing Fall into your home.

Lots of pumpkins and turkeys to choose from.

We would love to help you decorate your home for fall. Pop in and visit with us. Hope to see you soon. Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

This week Recipe can be located on allrecipe.com

Fall is Coming

Fall is approaching. Soon the leaves will be turning beautiful shades of Crimson red, Amber, orange, and gold. So today’s blog will be incorporating your fall indoors. We have many ideas at the shop that can help you achieve this goal.

Ideas:

image-containers can be used for fall branches, fall bittersweet, Chinese lanterns(we have all these at our shop)

-glass globes, glass cloches(you can fill these with pumpkins and/or gourds

-long fall branches can be stretched out on mantels, sideboards, sofa tables,on tops of hutches

-incorporate shades of fall in your kitchen by using fall placemats. If your preference is not cutesy, just use plain placemats with fall hues. Colors could be rust, brown, burnt orange, gold.

-our beaded garland is great to use on your table, mantels, center island in a

kitchen, tie backs for curtains( I use mine year round, not just for holidays)

– scatter fake leaves around your home.

-DIY:purchase silk leaves at dollar store, Michaels,Hobby Lobby, spray glue and get out your glitter . Fun!Fun!Fun!

Falling into Back to School

Happy Wed. Everyone!

As a mom I had mixed feelings on the children

going back to school. I remember I felt more than

ready for my boys to go back to school, the routine

was good for all of us. But on the other side of the

coin, I knew here comes the disagreements on time

to get up and time to retire. And homework! And

practices, tutors, and music lessons!

Driving in our mini van all over image image image image imagetown. It’s part

of life with the

kiddies.

Now I’m a grandma, thinking a little differently.

It’s sad to see Summer coming to an end.

I don’t want the kids to go back to school so early. I want time to slow down.

It’s amazing what happens to us with a little wisdom and age.

Enjoy every minute of the hustle and bustle with falling back to school with your munchkins.

Today I’m sharing some Fall products that we have in our shop.

I love Fall! Stop in to see us, put a little Fall in your life. Check our estate sale page.

Value the History of Vintage Items

image

Hi everyone! Last week came up from the Eastern Shore ! I came into the shop on Thursday.

It was kind of quiet on Thursday, so I began the creativity process of striping the displays.  It’s quite a process . Once you begin, it leads to moving more than you expect.

I love it!!!  It is my favorite part of the business. I enjoy incorporating the vintage items with our new items in our displays. When I do our displays, blending the old with the new it validates that our vintage( our history) can be used in our present time.

I brought in some new items. Come in to see our new treasures.
